Some Quick Dread Mob Additions

Here are a couple of quick photos of some Dread Mob additions I'm making.  I'm adding my first Deff Dread, who will act as a Troops choice in this army.  I'm also adding a custom Nob, who will lead my allied block of 30 Boyz.  That same block will enjoy the ministrations of both a Pain Boss and a Mek with Kustom Force Field.  Most survivable mob EVAH!

Stompa Sneak Peek

Here is a quick sneak peek of my Stompa work in progress. Well, I guess it's more of a Rolla!

It's based on the Claptrap (CL4P-TP) robot from the Borderlands video games and uses a Necron Monolith as the core. Still tons of work to do on it. 

New Year's Resolutions

I know this is a week and a half late, but I've actually been sticking to this so far.

I have several resolutions I want to hit in 2014, and historically, my best efforts have been ones that have been publicly documented.  That said, you can expect to see the odd resolution based post in addition to hobby related ones.

So, here they are...

1. Get under 200 lbs.  I'm currently at 230.8.  I have to lose an average of 0.6 lbs per week, which should be fairly easy to do with some basic behavioral changes like eating smaller portions and bringing my lunch to work everyday.

2. Walk a marathon.  I've got a training plan in place for this and have completed the first of 24 weeks of training.  Again, very achievable if I just stick to this.  For some background, a year ago I couldn't walk 3 miles without my knees aching.  A marathon is 26.2 miles.

3. Complete 1500 points of 40k Dread Mob Orks and 1500 points of Fantasy High Elves.  This is gonna be the tough one.  I think the first priority is to evaluate what I have now and then build lists for each army.  I have most of what I will need for the High Elves, and a lot of it is even primed and ready to be painted.  The Dread Mob list is going to require at a minimum some Killa Kans and Deff Dreads, with a Mecha-Dread and Grot Tanks as high probabilities.

Last year I wanted to learn 3D design and walk 500 miles.  I learned the 3D design, but I only walked about 400 miles.  This marathon training, which will be complete in mid June is over 500 miles by itself, so I should be able to retroactively knock this one out of the park.

Kustom Stompa on the way

I've come up with an idea for what I think will be a pretty solid Kustom Stompa.  I'll be using the rules in Imperial Armour 8 to design the Stompa.  I don't want to reveal too much yet, but it's going to be based around a Looted Monolith.

Custom Conversion - Ork Dakkajet

I really wanted to add a Dakkajet to my small Ork army.  As I mentioned, my local GW is doing an escalation league.  For the next 250 points, I'm adding a Dakkajet and 3 Killa Kans.

I'm gonna just buy some Killa Kans, but I can't justify spending $100 on myself right around Xmas, so I decided to convert a Dakkajet from bits on hand plus a 9.49 USD Thunderbolt Razorback model I picked up at a local arts and crafts store.

Here you go...  still a work in progress, but I think I'm just about done.  I like that the Fighta Ace has a bag of stikkbombs in case he runs out of ammo otherwise!  Haha

4,000 Views!

I can't believe I've actually hit 4,000 views on this blog.  This is sort of a milestone.  I'm 10% of the way towards the very fluffy 40k views target.

I'm going to have to step this up a little to make that happen.

Escalation League Round One

I played my first two games in my local GW's Escalation League this weekend. I played versus Space Wolves and Dark Angels. Won both games.

The next level of escalation is 750 points. I think I'm going to add 3 Killa Kans and a Dakkajet. Should be a nice addition and it'll give me some newish kits to paint.

White Elephant

My family is doing a White Elephant gift exchange this year.  If you're not familiar with the idea, it goes like this...

1. Bring the tackiest, lamest present you can find.
2. Draw numbers.
3. The first person picks a gift at random and opens it.
4. The next person can either take an already opened gift from someone OR open a new gift.  If they take a gift from someone, that person then picks a new gift to open.

I just found this at the local 2nd & Charles (an awesome store).  It's the tackiest thing I think I'm likely to find.  That's right, it's a Justin Timberlake puppet doll.  Super cool.  Haha!
