Siege Tyrant Showdown

Forgeworld recently previewed the official Iron Warriors Siege Tyrant models.  I kinda prefer mine, which are just plastic Cataphractii Terminators with Anvil Industries missile racks glued to the top.  I do kinda like the helmets on the official ones, but that's a pretty tiny detail.

Thoughts?  I like that their should pads are a little bigger, but it's not that big of a difference.

Iron Warriors "Domitar-Ferrum Class Battle-Automata"

I am SOOOOO glad I picked the Iron Warriors.  This might be the single coolest model that Forgeworld has ever put out.  Seriously.  I love this model.

These things are 205 points each and gain benefits when you have more than one standing next to each other.  In the fluff, they're Perturabo's personal bodyguard unit...  The Iron Circle.  In fact, Forgeworld is more than willing to sell you six of these guys with Perturabo and some transfers/brass bits for the low, low price of 408 GBP, which comes out to around 600 USD.  A little rich for my blood.

I could definitely see adding two of these to an army as bodyguard "twin robots" for the Warlord.  I'll have to wait and see what our Russian friends decide to charge.

Forgeworld Skitarii?

So, I ran across this picture on the good old interwebs today.  Evidently, it shows some work in progress stuff from Forgeworld.  I don't know who these guys are, but I NEED them for my Skitarii force.

I love the idea of the shields.  I love the idea of new Skitarii stuff.  The picture isn't great quality, but it's obviously showing resin bits added to the plastic Skitarii kit.  I did a little more research and found this from some presentation given by the Forgeworld people...

Evidently, these models are part of the Mechanicum Secutarii.  I'm really hoping they have rules that allow me to take them in a Skitarii army.  I'm not sure how long until they come out, but I'm at least aware now and can pay attention.  For those of you who don't know, I painted up a small Skitarii force shortly after the army was released using a purple color scheme.

Tau Empire KX-139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour

OMFG...  I need one of these for the Greater Good.

Forgeworld showed this bad boy off during their recent Open Day.  It's marked as a KX-139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour.  Looks like it's loaded with 3 giant guns of some variety, arm mounted triple ion cannons of some sort and burst cannons/missile pods on the torso.  This thing looks like a beast.  I might have to save up for this guy.

Debating a Forge World Purchase

There are a group of players in the local community who band together once every 3 months or so and place a Forge World order.  If you place more than 250 (USD or GBP, I forget) worth of stuff, shipping is free.  Shipping is normally 15% of your total order, so this is quite a savings.

The last time we ordered, I got two Remora Drones and a Plasma Defense Turret.

I think this time around I'm considering getting one of these guys.

I would probably just use him as a standard commander with twin-linked plasma and a shield generator.  My friends tend to play a lot of MEQ (Marines and their Equivalents), so twin-linked plasma is really helpful in taking down those tough units.

The shield just looks awesome.  If I could order just those shields, I would use them for every crisis suit that has a shield generator.  I might try my hand at casting.

More WIP Shots

Here are a couple more WIP shots of my Dark Angels Contemptor Dreadnought.

I picked up a Contemptor Dreadnought and decided to do a little conversion work on it.  Nothing too fancy...  just made a nice base out of cork with a little Scibor basing piece and then glued on a ton of Dark Angels bits.

I decided to use the Typhoon Missile Launcher from a Land Speeder kit as I prefer the way it looks.  I also glued on a set of wings...  I've had them in my bits box forever.  I think they come from some Fantasy model...  maybe a pegasus or something.

My Newest Toy

I just got this sucker in the mail. I should have another coming... A Relic version. I like how the pose turned out. Also using a storm shield for the shoulder and the Scibor basing bit worked out pretty well.
