Broken Token is Amazing

I ended up ordering two of the Compact Game kits from Broken Token.  The package came in on a Friday.  Unfortunately, I was only shipped one of the two that I ordered.  I sent an email to their customer service address at 5:30PM EST (GMT-5).  They're in California, so that's 2:30PM PST (GMT-8).  They responded within 30 minutes, apologizing and promising a correction.  Within an hour, I had a tracking number.  Within two hours, the USPS had acknowledged receipt of the package.  Within 48 hours, the package is marked as sitting in the local post office, awaiting delivery.  That's amazing customer service.

The item itself is pretty cool.  It took me about 10 minutes to fully assemble.  I definitely recommend using tape to hold the token container together.  They recommend glue, but tape is just easier.  I used masking tape, which more or less blends in with the balsa wood.

The box lid doesn't sit all the way down, so they include this crazy rubber band thing.  It keeps the lid in place and is pretty easy to work with.

The instructions still sit on the top with no problem.

The token container sits in the middle and slides out for use during games.  I was pretty impressed overall.  I'll definitely buy from them again in the future.  It's a shame that they don't make dividers for most of the board games I play, but I'll be paying attention to them in the future.

Storage is a Pain in the Rump

Having recently gotten into Star Wars Destiny, awaiting the first expansion for Arkham Horror TCG next week and having a tracking number in hand for yet another Kickstarter game, my mind is going to storage nightmare scenarios right now.

I've been researching how other people store things.  For a TCG like Arkham Horror, you can't just store it like Magic the Gathering.  Magic is easy...  alphabetical by set and then color.  With Arkham Horror, you're really dealing with multiple sets of cards at the same time.  You have act/agenda decks, encounter decks, player decks, etc.  You also have tokens that have to be maintained and stored with the cards.

It seems like a lot of people are recommending Broken Token.  Broken Token makes a flat pack, IKEA sort of thing that fits inside the regular boxes.  My thought is that I would need to purchase one of these every time a major expansion comes out.  That would more or less double the price of those expansions.  I'm not sure that's worth it.  They do look cool though...

The red thing is a big rubber band used to keep the lid closed.  You can see that the wooden thing makes the box taller than it normally is, which means it won't really stay closed.  I'll probably buy one to see how it goes.  They're $25 on the company's site, but $28 on Amazon's with free shipping.  I'll make a decision tomorrow.

Organization is Important

Today was a slow day.  I went through and organized a bunch of my favorite board games.  This is all of the token goodness that comes with the core Arcadia Quest game.  Now that the Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia game is live on Kickstarter, Arcadia Quest has become more front of mind.

I got these cases at Home Depot and am very happy with them.  Here's the link in case you want some.  The orange dividers all come out and they cases can lock together.  I'm using three locked together to carry all my Star Wars Armada stuff.
