Hobby Doldrums

I'm at a weird place right now with my hobby.  This happens from time to time.  I usually know what the culprit is.

The culprit today is Necrons and the uncertainty associated with knowing a new Codex is probably only a matter of weeks away.  I have Warriors and Immortals just waiting to be worked on, but the rumor mill seems to think that these units will be moved to the new 32mm bases.  If this happens, I'll need to pick up some of those bases and re-base my units.  I know myself and I know I won't be happy if my models are on the "old" bases size.  I also love scenic bases and larger bases gives me more freedom.

I'm really hoping we see some nice new formations and detachments for the Necrons to liven things up a little.  I'm really, really hoping for something that puts Crypteks in charge of lots of Canoptek stuff.  A "Guardians of the Tomb World" type of Detachment, if you will.

In the meantime, here are a couple of random inspiration photos I found online.  If they belong to you, please let me know and I'll credit them appropriately (or take them down if you'd rather).

  1. Been feeling a bit like that myself, lately - at the last count, I have over 20 miniatures in varying stages of painting, but it's almost like the love has gone, and I've not picked up a paint brush since before Christmas. I bought an Ogres kit yesterday to try to combat the sluggishness, and that seems to be working for me. End of the month (and the rumoured Codex) seems such a long way off though...

  2. This tends to happen whenever something new I'm interested in is on the horizon. I'm interested in Necrons AND Harlequins, which are both coming out sometime in the next month or two. I just don't want to assemble and paint models while there is uncertainty in the air.
